Without Medication Excerpt from Chapter 8
"Married to the Misfit Family"

Mickey had pondered long and hard about the woman he would marry. He was a funny person where women were concerned and he also had a bit of a controlling spirit as well. So any woman who could not allow him to have the last word on decision making would not last very long with him. Mickey was a great brother, he and Jasmine were very close too. She loved him and he was her best friend growing up.

Jasmine knew that Mickey would also make some woman a very good husband too, but Jasmine use to tease him saying,"I could never marry you, because you are too bossy" and he felt the same way about her. Mickey met Cathy seven years ago. She attended the college where he worked. They had been dating off and on during that time. Cathy was tall and beautiful with a great athletic ability and charisma too. Mickey’s sisters liked her a lot. Mickey had also been dating Karen at the same time. Karen was a beautiful woman too, and she was very business oriented. Only thing was, she wanted to run things as much as Mickey did. The family liked Karen too so they felt either woman would be good for Mickey, and the two women were running neck to neck to see who would end up with him.

Jasmine was almost sure it would be Karen because she had moved in with Mickey when he bought his first house and lived there with him for about two years. Yet he still saw Cathy on the side. But in the end today it was going to be Cathy who would be wearing the white dress and walking down that isle to say I do to Mickey. But Karen had not let go easily, she was still in love with Mickey and Jasmine feared she would indeed come and crash the wedding. Well Mickey had no fears or at least none he displayed to others.

He seemed very sure of himself and as long as he was sure, of course everyone else were sure too. So on with the wedding plans Jasmine went. There were pink and white roses all over the place. They lined the benches of the church and covered the candelabras as well. Jasmine had covered everything right down to the beautiful pillow for the ring bearer. It was about an hour before the wedding when things started to unravel. First the Mother of the bride sudden took to her bed with a stomach flu. She had a fever running well into the hundred mark and there was no way she was going to make it to the wedding. However Cathy had resolved herself to the fact that her mother would just have to watch her wedding on video tape because come hell or high waters she was going to marry Mickey today.

Cathy had given him seven good years of her life and now it was pay day and nothing or no one was going to get in her way. Besides that, Cathy had Mickey’s child about four months ago so her place was secure in him, now they were just going to make things proper and legal. Cathy had waited for this day for a long time and nothing could sway her today.

On the other hand Karen had a child too, Mickey had questioned her several times as to if it was his or not. But Karen had in the past told Mickey that she was already pregnant when they met. She did not want to make him feel trapped, nor did she want to acknowledge the child as his so early in their relationship, just in case things did not work out, she felt she could walk away with the child as long as he did not believe it was his own. But Mickey loved her child just like it was his own and had raised her for the past seven years as well. And he was the only father Karen’s daughter Dee Dee had ever known. So really this day was happiest and yet hardest of all for Mickey as he was opening the door to a new life with Cathy alone, when it had for the past seven years in a way been a threesome.

And a very interesting affair. Now today he had made his choice and he seemed to be happy with the choice he had made. Mickey was a good looking man he was about 6 feet tall and very well built. He had a very funny since of humor. He was a hard worker and very financially secure. Mickey had a gift, he could make just about anything with wood. He made the most beautiful furniture anyone had ever seen and owned his own furniture store chain. Mickey had two beautiful homes and a garage full of classic cars as well as his everyday cars. He collected cars and raced them in his spare time. Yes Mickey was very talented indeed and all the ladies liked him.

But today he had finally decided to narrow it down to one. Mickey was getting older and he wanted to be more settled and stable in his personal life as his business was already secure and booming. And now finally the day he had planned was here. It was a beautiful sunny day and it started out quiet enough. But then the wedding started, everyone had made it down the isle and the preacher was doing his thing. “Do you Cathy take this man Mickey to be your lawful husband," he asked. “I do," Cathy replied. “Do you Mickey"...

And all of a sudden the church doors flew open, and there stood Karen! Posing in the doorway in the back of the church, wearing a black dress and matching hat. Fishnet black stockings and black high heels. She looked damn good even in her mourning clothes. She slowly walked down the isle and all eyes were on her now. No one said a word, but it was going to be interesting to see what happened next.
